As the fitness population ages a greater amount of exercisers fall into the special needs category. Typically, special needs individuals with injuries need an adapted approach to an exercise program.

Systemic illnesses that limit exercise capacity or necessitate specific training considerations are an example of a special need. Other special needs may include: someone who has very limited time yet needs a very effective program; or a person who may have had a negative experience in fitness or sports in general.

Everyone has individual needs and when a personal trainer understands them, they are able to create a special fitness program and help the individual obtain results.
