Integrating Various Modes of Exercise to “Spice Up” the Program
Generally, the most well-rounded exercise programs integrate techniques and strategies in order to develop fitness in areas such as muscular strength, aerobic endurance, flexibility, body composition, and functional performance development.
Each individual has different areas of need and interest, and as a result every program at Cooper Massage
& Fitness is tailored to maximize a person’s desired goals. There are times when integrating a variety of exercises into a program can “spice up” and energize the entire process.
If an individual is used to running five miles and working out daily for example, Copper Massage
& Fitness can create a training program that integrates and developes the entire body.
Running may seem like a positive health-affirming activity, but the body does indeed seem to thrive on being tested in a variety of ways, whether it is employing different muscle groups and metabolic systems. Cross training for example, is defined here as the practice of integrating the forms of exercise – aerobic , strength, balance and flexibility – with the practice of alternating the techniques used to perform each one. Mixing biking, jogging, and elliptical training; as well as varying their levels of intensity, duration, and frequency are excellent ways to alter a program. Cross training for strength allows an individual to vary the resistance implements used, while altering the emphasis and intensity for each range of muscle groups being targeted.
In summary, the goal of integrated training is to not work out excessively and potentially cause injuries, but rather to maximize and enjoy an individual’s total fitness program.
